Back in the day, when leaving for school, our mothers would give us a handful almonds to sustain us for the day. Over time, the handful of almonds were replaced with unhealthy, sugar-loaded snacks. Once I had children of my own, I did not want to continue that trend. I started creating my own, healthy trail mixes, and still do, as of today.
People often ask me how I came to develop this nutritious and tasty treat and I’m happy to share that story: I decided to make my special trail mix for my son, and his co-workers began asking him where he got it. When my son told me how popular the trail mix was with his colleagues, I decided it was time I should make it for everyone and that was when Pure Trail Mix was born.
Due to our busy life styles, people do not have time to make healthy snacks for themselves and they make a mistake of relying on the go-to snacks. Many people fall into a daily routine that can include skipping breakfast; wolfing down an unhealthy lunch; grabbing a soda, chips, candy and, donuts; or drinking coffee all day. And then, they gorge in the evening. Many of the most widely consumed snack foods are high in refined carbohydrates or added sugar while maintaining a low nutritional value. Eating simple, sugar carbohydrates late in the day promotes fat storage and blood sugar swings.
Eating high fiber whole foods as a late-night snack can help maintain a steady blood sugar level to give your body deep rest. We should reserve sugary treats only for special occasions and strive to avoid snacks that provide nothing but empty calories.
We believe that our wealth is measured by our health and, in today’s busy lives, we often take our health for granted. We should use our food to nourish and heal our bodies. This is why we are proud to start this journey with you by creating Pure Trail Mix!
